This Privacy Policy explains how, I, Laura Portsmouth, use and protect any information that you give to me when you start the counselling process with me.
I am committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should I ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using my counselling practice, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.
PRIVACY POLICY
I, your counsellor understand that your privacy is important to you and that you care about how your personal data is used, stored and shared within my practice.
I respect and value the privacy of everyone who:
(I) Visits my website `lauraportsmouthcounselling.co.uk
(ii) whose e mail address and personal data were retained on my database and stored securely at my home prior to 25th May 2018.
(iii) whose e mail address and personal data are added to my database and secure storage at my home post 25th May 2018.
Any personal data I do collect will only be used as permitted by law and will not be shared with anybody but my supervisor, supervision being a legal requirement of the counselling process.

The right of access to the personal data I hold about you.
The right to rectification if any personal data I hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete.
The right to be forgotten, i.e. the right to ask me to delete/destroy any personal data I hold about you after our work together comes to an end.
What Data do I collect?
For my counselling records, I collect the following details of your personal data:
Name
Date of Birth
Mobile Number
Medical History
Doctor`s Name/Number
Relationship Status
These are then kept securely in locked files with no other person having access to them but myself.
E mail addresses – These are kept solely for communicating dates/times of session if preferred method of contact by the client, of which are pertinent to my professional standing as a practitioner of counselling. Under no circumstances, will any data ever be released to any third parties.
How Do I Use Your Data?
The personal data I collect from you during our first meeting will be processed and stored securely. I will comply with my obligations and safeguard your rights under the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR at all times.
How can you access your Data?
You have the right to ask for a copy of any of your personal data held by me. Under the GDPR I will provide any information in response to your request free of charge.
