Shaping Us. Baby Me

The Importance of our Early Years

A new long tern campaign launched recently spearheaded by the Princess of Wales called `Shaping Us`, is to increase public understanding of the crucial importance of the first five years of a child`s life.
Speaking about the campaign Kate explained...
"The way we develop through our experiences, relationships and surroundings during our early childhood, fundamentally shapes our whole lives. It affects everything from our ability to form relationships and thrive t work to our mental and physical well being as adults and the way we parent our own children."
The Centre of Early Childhood released new data showing that 36% of adults reported knowing nothing or very little about the importance and necessity of providing safe, loving and secure environments form 0-5 years of age.

I feel very passionate about helping adults with low self esteem understand how it wasn`t anything they did wrong or failed at, that they were too young to meet their own needs.
Talking about how they feel, making sense of how and why their needs were not met is the first step towards them reclaiming their own self worth and building up their level of self esteem.
Starting to talk to others when young, being encouraged to express their feelings, can really help significantly reduce the number of adults struggling to understand why they feel so down, sad, anxious and depressed and unable to express their feelings to others.
